Ok, First off I'm a male in his mid 40's.
Secondly The Last Frye's I owned were some Campus 14 back in 1978!
I think they ran about $25 (boy times change!) back then and all I can say the Quality is still the same And That is a lot to say these days!
So first off I bought a pair of Veronica Slouches in Burnt Orange size 11M (same as a mens 9D) off Ebay and they fit perfect even with my larger calves 16" at the top of the boot.
I Loved these So much That when the When I saw the Fiona Stitch Ankle Boots were on SALE, I had to by them as well!
So I Bought a Pair in Spice!
I really like having the side zipper to get these on an off and yes they fit just as well as the VS's.
They zipped all the way up no problem!
My Calves are 13.75" at that point.
BTW What I really love about most Frye's is the toe box is a lot larger than most regular Cowboy Boots!
I really love these rounded toe boots!
So much better for walking and a way shorter break in period!

My Wife Liked them so much that I bought her a pair size 7M the next day!
She has 13.5 calves and they fit perfect as well. (11.5 where they zip up to.)
These Boots look fine for a man as long as you wear jeans over them and How can you not just love the leather and the Quality of these boots.
Maybe I'm just lucky to have such an understanding wife who never judges me but who just loves me for who I am!
But Boy do we have a lot of fun together!

The Bottom line on these is....
They fit GREAT!
Are AWSOME QUALITY!
And for that price of ABOUT $100 how can you..........
NOT HELP BUT TREAT YOURSELF AND BUY A PAIR OR TWO!!!!!
